Our sweet little baby girl has arrived! Both mom and baby are doing great, and we’re all feeling very grateful and blessed. For those who don’t know, Lillie had the baby at home with the help of a midwife.
Baby Ricks still doesn’t have a name, but we’ve narrowed the list to two. (Lillie’s glad she doesn’t have to find a boy name…) Anyway, the choice is between Elizabeth Ann Ricks, and Hannah Elizabeth Ricks. We like both Elizabeth and Ann. My Grandfather’s mother was named Hannah and went by Annie, so there’s a family connection there. But… already having a Dan in the family might make having an Ann complicated (When your name is called from across the yard, distiguishing “Dan” from “Ann” might be difficult.) Anyway, we’ll post again when Baby has a name.
Here’s the details on the birth: Lillie had a great Sunday morning–she even went to church, took a nap, and had dinner–before Babymade it clear she was ready to start making her grand entrance. This was about 6:30 or 7 p.m. Lillie’s hypnobirthing worked great, and she was able to relax through most of the first stage. At twenty after 11, I called the midwife and she came over about 11:45. Baby was born about an hour later at 12:42 am, weighing 8 lbs. 6 oz. She was a little blue due to the stress of being born, but is now doing great!
