After bottling the applesauce, I still had 2 bushels of apples. Tart apples. I decided to save one to eat fresh, and make apple pie filling with the other.
Now when we want pie, all we need is this.
The boys had helped me peel-core-slice the apples on canning day, and had tasted the pie syrup, so they were ever so excited to help make this apple pie and try out the filling. Ben poured the filling into the pie, and Daniel tasted it just to make sure it was still good.
Ready for the oven. I got a little creative and had red and green fingers for days because of my efforts.
